Jane by Design TV Series 2012 Full Cast & Crew

jane by design cast

(Lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Leah Gelpe provide liminal, effective transitions between scenes and days.) McAdams’ peculiarly chipper, strained cadence reveals not just Mary Jane’s resilience but also, in part, her desocialization, so much has care for Alex consumed the world of this former aspiring teacher. Herzog is writing about a mom who talks to relieve stress and prevent her own breakdown and she shares some of that compassion with a couple of other characters, including another hospital mom, Chaya, played by Susan Pourfar. This carefully calibrated and furiously unsentimental scene, intimate but uneasy between two women of utterly different experiences, will be familiar to anyone who has built an unlikely relationship in a hospital or care home. Performances are solid throughout, though McAdams’ projection was muted at a recent performance. Still, it’s the story that truly drives “Mary Jane.” More often than not, the labor of child rearing lies heavily on the mother, who is frequently the primary parent, whether partnered or otherwise.

Season 1 – Jane by Design

Now Billy dates the new girl, Zoe, which makes Jane feel like he's replacing her. Jane's father died and her mother ran out on Jane and Ben before the series started. Jane's mother has returned home to Jane and Ben, and she stays awhile. Her brother Ben (David Clayton Rogers) tries to make money by getting jobs, but the jobs never work out until he lands one as the athletic assistant at Jane's school. At Donovan Decker, Jane discovers a world full of fashion challenges working for Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell) and tackles them with the help of her co-workers, Jeremy Jones (Rowley Dennis), India Jourdain (India de Beaufort), Carter (Ser'Darius Blain) and Birdie (Brooke Lyons).

However, seeing these actors in new roles in Act Two is initially jarring and distracting — especially since Matthis goes from Sherry to the character of Dr. Toros using only a simple white coat to distinguish between the two. Still, Susan Pourfar, playing two women in positions similar to Mary Jane, and Lily Santiago, as Sherry’s niece Amelia and music therapist Kat, have roles that showcase the actors’ wealth of talent and agility. While some relish the tasks of caretaking, others speak candidly about the hardships of child-rearing, sharing the true realities of motherhood that have been glamorized over time. In “Mary Jane,” the 2017 play written by Amy Herzog and making its Broadway debut under Anne Kauffman’s direction, viewers witness both a young mother’s joy and her anguish as she works around the clock to keep her disabled toddler alive. Through a case of mistaken identity, she starts a double life working in the fashion industry. The most powerful of these scenes involves a conversation with a doctor, played with clinical acuity by April Matthis.

But the takeaway from time spent at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre goes beyond even that realization. You leave after 90 minutes with a near-crushing awareness of the unfairness of life, how some moms with a well of parental love inside get to stand in playgrounds on gorgeous fall afternoons while their kids run around and laugh. Meanwhile, others are forced to deal with hospital beds and code blues, the ups and downs of shifting diagnoses, live-in nurses, drug regimens and hospital music therapists who cannot be tracked down in time.

She also appeared on the big screen in films like Garden State, The Accountant and Babylon. In 2017 she kicked off her one her longest-running roles to date — second only to Designing Women — as Meemaw on Young Sheldon. Into the 2000s, Carter appeared in Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie and later on several episodes of Desperate Housewives, in a role that earned her an Emmy nomination, before her final role in 2009's That Evening Sun, which she appeared in alongside her husband, actor Hal Holbrook. She has the help of her childhood Best Friend Billy (Nick Roux), although his hidden relationship with Jane's rival/bully Lulu Pope (Meagan Tandy) causes problems in school.

We hear his machine’s beeps and whirs, see his mountain of stuffed animals on a hospital bed, jolt and hurdle along his journey from medical hiccup to crisis. And yet, as Mary Jane – the titular mother so movingly, hauntingly embodied by Rachel McAdams – insists, he can understand her. Medical dramas are very difficult to stage in a live theater for all kinds of reasons. But director Anne Kauffman (with the help of a simple but emotionally rich design from Lael Jellinek) calibrates this one with an authenticity utterly unfamiliar to hospital procedurals.

Jane tries to be the best at her job and her school, juggling the everyday challenges of high school and the world of fashion. Healthcare is a vast ecosystem of treatment, suffering and healing, of hospitals, bills and logistics. It’s often, rightly in the US, denigrated for its opacity, inequities and Kafka-esque absurdities.

All this happened without a major overhaul to Michael Greif’s production, which has a book by Kristoffer Diaz. As a single mom caring for a special needs child, the weight of Mary Jane’s existence and her adoration and love for her son are the anchors fortifying this narrative. By the time the final curtain on “Mary Jane” drops, the audience is fully immersed in the titular character’s experiences. McAdams masters her portrayal of a determined caregiver continually sitting in the uncertainty of worry, despite constantly leaning toward positivity. Here you will find an overview of the cast & crew of Jane by Design season 1, including all the actors, actresses and the director. When you click on a person, you can watch more movies and/or series by him or her. Amy Herzog’s beautiful play “Mary Jane” is, at its core, a study of the extraordinary lengths to which a mother will go to fight and care for her child.

Jane by Design follows Jane Quimby a quirky teen with an eclectic chic fashion sense who lands a job at a hip fashion house when they mistake her for an adult. Torn between her love of fashion and the need to finish high school, Jane conceals her true age to assist the demanding, but talented Gray Chandler Murray who travels the world in search of the next big style trend. Mary Jane is a personal assistant who is struggling to care for her child and keep her job and McAdams has a cheery, round face and infectious smile.

The play has a hypnotic, suffusive effect – there’s not one heartbreaking or cathartic moment but a series of many wins and setbacks, hurdles and sprints of human care, that left me on the verge of tears for hours afterwards. In her small gestures – climbing into bed with Alex, reassuring him that “Mama’s here” – McAdams, with the chorus of help around her, conjures a world of compassion, one I missed when it was over. Alex, the two-year-old child at the center of Amy Herzog’s excellent play Mary Jane, is a constant presence on stage, despite never showing his face nor saying a word. Alex can’t, actually, vocalize anything – he was born with a paralyzed vocal cord, his endearingly peppy mother explains, along with other health conditions such as cerebral palsy, requiring round-the-clock care.

Even from rows back, you can see a hint of tears, the tick of a clock and checks of a to-do list behind McAdams’s smile, her lighthearted banter with her super (Brenda Wehle), at-home nurse Sherry (standout April Matthis), Sherry’s niece Amelia (Lily Santiago) and fellow mother Brianne (Susan Pourfar). Teenage Jane lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult. Jane By Design (formerly known as What Would Jane Do) is a light-hearted drama about Jane, a teenager who lands a job at a hip retail company when they mistake her for an adult. Jane Quimby, (Erica Dasher) is a teenager, mistaken for an adult, who lands her fashion dream job. She has her best friend Billy (Nick Roux) help her out, although he had a relationship with Lulu (Meagan Tandy), a girl who has been mean to Jane since the seventh grade.

California is filled with noodle places, whether you’re craving a bowl of hot pho or refreshingly cool soba. Check out just a few of the best picks for ramen noodles, pho noodles and other noodle selections. Ocean Beach is one of California’s last remaining bohemian beach towns.

The close-knit, laidback neighborhood is on the Pacific side of Point Loma peninsula. It’s characterized by its food-coops, independently owned stores, head and surf shops, sandy beaches, and lack of retail chains – which the neighborhood vigilantly resists. It’s also home to the Ocean Beach Pier, the West Coast’s longest concrete pier. At the end of Newport Avenue, the main drag, you’ll find a sandy beach and popular surf spot next to the pier.

The restaurant has also appeared on TruTV’s “Barmageddon.” Not only is it wildly popular with the neighborhood, but it has an interesting backstory as well. The vegan ramen shop is a modern take on ramen in the newly revitalized Grand Central Market in downtown LA. Using vegetables and vegan ingredients to create a rich broth, you won’t even miss the meat in the OG ramen bowl, which is highly recommended. Featured on TruTV Show “Barmageddon”Korean style pork belly grilled to perfection. Garnished with our house made papaya salad, Sriracha aioli, and cilantro.

Inside, the restaurant has a gastropub layout with a large bar dominating one wall. The opposite wall has a single long, black banquette the length of the wall with a few benches, bistro tables and chairs. Behind the banquette is a wall-size mural that tells a story, and a realistic looking leafless tree in one corner that appears to come out of the scene. If you look closely, you can discern a human face – one of the characters from the mural. OB Noodle House Bar 1502 on Niagara Street features similar menu items to the Original OB Noodle House on Cable Street. Delivery is available through many ghost kitchen locations throughout Southern California.

Tamarindo was featured as a food truck on the show and subsequently established a restaurant in San Clemente. Mensho is the stateside outpost of the popular Tokyo-based ramen chain. Check out the Tori Paitan on a first visit and then try the many different other variations or even enjoy the noodles on their own, without soup. Another neighborhood favorite is OB Noodle’s spicy garlic wings. For this dish, they use chicken wingettes – the flat mid-section of the wing – only. They marinate the wingettes in a house recipe satay, deep fry them, transfer them to a wok seasoned with goodness, garnish with cilantro, and serve with ranch dressing.

There are TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi, plus outdoor seating. Kids are welcome, but there can be long waits due to its popularity and no reservations policy. They do have take-out as an alternative, and they welcome calls inquiring about wait time. Due to popular demand, there is now a second location a mere seven blocks away. OB Noodle House’s Bar 1502 is located a block from the OB Pier on Niagara Avenue.

There is an exquisite grasp here of the feeling that Karen Carpenter was expressing in the song where she sang “Don’t they know it’s the end of the world,” the bizarre disconnect those under familial stress feel from a world that refuses to stop or even slow down. During her tenure as Mary Jo Shively on Designing Women's seven-season run, Annie Potts, now 71, also landed several film roles in iconic movies, including Pretty in Pink, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Ghostbusters II (after starring in the first film in 1984). Dixie Carter began her career in TV in the 1970s, with her first onscreen credit coming from The Edge of the Night.

Season 1 – Jane by Design

The power of the performance lies in McAdams’ ability to deglamorize herself without letting that undermine the formidable, everyday optimism of this character. How could all of this happen to her, you keep thinking, letting the play send your mind spinning as to what life for Mary Jane would have been like without this challenge. “Mary Jane,” which stars the excellent Rachel McAdams in the title role and was first seen at the New York Theatre Workshop in 2017, is a closely observed play, reflective of the same attention to detail that its title character showers on her child, who has cerebral palsy.

Mary Jane (Academy Award nominee Rachel McAdams) sits in the small kitchen of her one-bedroom apartment, speaking to her super, Ruthie (Brenda Wehle). While Ruthie plunges desperately into the clogged sink, Mary Jane chats aimlessly. As she drones on with an eerie cheeriness, desperate to fill in the dead air, it’s immediately apparent this is a rare opportunity for her to socialize. Though Ruthie initially attempts to indulge Mary Jane, pity takes over, and the older woman instead begins to advise her tenant on the wonders of good sleep hygiene and self-care. Even armed with her cloak of optimism, it’s apparent to everyone except Mary Jane that her emotional well-being is teetering on the edge. The series was canceled after one season while plans were in the works for a second season.

It’s a tricky system to capture in a tight play with a five-person cast and sparse, economical staging at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre, but it’s one this Broadway edition, directed by Anne Kauffman, manages to wrangle through the nucleus of Mary Jane. She’s the center of a network of women who help care for Alex, from contracted at-home nurses to emergency room doctors to supportive parents of fellow chronically ill children. The first half of the play takes place in Mary Jane’s Queens apartment, which is small, bright and lightly cluttered and which levitates to reveal a sterile, eerily white hospital set for the second half.

Season 1 of Jane by Design premiered on January 3, 2012. The following is a table with the average estimated number of viewers per episode of Jane by Design on ABC Family.

Jane by Design — Cast & Crew Cancelled

The play, to be clear, is not about the kid (who we never fully see), but about his mom and her experience caring first for her child at home and then in the hospital. The writer draws from her own experience with a sick child and as you watch this journey you constantly think to yourself that Herzog must have had that very conversation. They’re all too visceral to have been made from whole cloth.

In 1976, she also originated the role of Melba Snyder in Broadway's Pal Joey. After starring as Julia Sugarbaker on all seven seasons of Designing Women, she played Randi King on Family Law beginning in 1999. All the actors in “Mary Jane” save for McAdams portray dual characters in the first two acts. Jared Janas and Brenda Abbandandolo, respectively, work well.

The subtext of the scene is that the doctor, leaving room for hope, is gently trying to get the mother to realize the bleakness of her child’s prospects and thus better weigh the risks and benefits. Herzog’s skill as a writer means that you feel the conversation alongside McAdams’ character, you are alongside her on a journey no one wants to take. As the 95-minute show progresses, the audience becomes oriented on Mary Jane’s world and gets up to speed on her son Alex’s condition. Mary Jane’s daily schedule revolves around medications, machines, timers and very little sleep. Alex has been assigned a fleet of night nurses, but Sherry (April Matthis), who has worked with the mother and son for the past year, is the most consistent and dependable. Her nurturing energy extends beyond the young boy to Mary Jane, making the trio a makeshift family.

A teenager lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult. Jane soon finds herself juggling life both as a regular high school student and as an assistant to a high powered executive in the cutthroat world of fashion... It’s McAdams’s Broadway debut, and though she started the play, in my viewing, a bit jittery and unnaturally rhythmic, she soon settled into her role as the linchpin in this young’s boy curtailed life with magnetic ease.

From smoothies to eggs to congee, you can eat to your heart’s desire paired with an energizing coffee while you strategize your next move. Sydney has a wide array of activities to enjoy from climbing the famous Harbor Bridge to surfing in Bondi Beach, there’s a lot to experience, especially if you like water-based activities. As we begin opening Meta Horizon OS to more device makers, we’re also expanding the ways app developers can reach their audiences. We’re beginning the process of removing the barriers between the Meta Horizon Store and App Lab, which lets any developer who meets basic technical and content requirements release software on the platform. App Lab titles will soon be featured in a dedicated section of the store on all our devices, making them easy for larger audiences to discover. Meta Horizon OS is the result of a decade of work at Meta to build a next-generation computing platform.

Featuring the latest from top designer brands like Cartier, Jacques Marie Mage, Dior, Balmain and more, the Designer Eyes luxury eyewear experience is unmatched on all fronts. Crafted with precision and adorned with intricate details, luxury eyewear is not just an accessory, but a reflection of one's personality and style. Combine style with practicality with a pair of frames from the best designer brands. And how about designer or prescription sunglasses to complete the set?

Last month W Sydney threw itself a larger-than-life opening party celebrating all the small and large spaces within the property with a multi-level party with many surprises. A blue carpet welcomed guests on the street level after which they ascended through multiple floors with champagne in hand. There was music by Synthony, art installations, a decadent buffet of seafood (and secret caviar rooms) and cocktails named after locations in the city.

Your Vision. Our Craft. Made Special.

These are meticulously designed to provide not only optimal visual clarity but also to exude opulence. Each pair of the latest shades for men and women is a fusion of cutting-edge technology and artistic flair, making them a coveted possession for those who appreciate both functionality and aesthetics. Egyptian eyewear brand Nile Eyewear makes its first appearance at Milan Design Week 2024 with a special collection titled Sunburst.

Premium Sunglasses

If you want to forgo a pair of sunglasses and stick to a single pair of glasses, consider going for photochromic lenses. Sensitive and reactive to changes in light, these lenses will turn darker when exposed to bright light, and return to clear in regular light settings. Find out more about how transition lenses can help you and your overall eye health. Fueled by the frustration of licensing existing brands at an absurd cost, Golden was intrigued by the idea of creating a unique, proprietary brand.

Used widely as a connector, or a “branch,” in chandeliers, it is also one of its most unsung, as designers would rather draw attention to the dainty decorations that hang off it. But all that changed in Milan this year, with the historic French atelier Saint-Louis’s latest lighting collection, Torsade. Designer Stefania di Petrillo has reimagined the rope as a series of playful U- and loop-shaped pieces that train the spotlight firmly on the exceptional skill behind hot twisting. Standing tall above Sydney’s Darling Harbor, the recently opened W Sydney will command your attention before you even step foot inside.

Offering premium lens options from Varilux, Eyezen, Transitions and more, we've got it all when it comes to optical excellence. Designer eyewear seamlessly merges the world of fashion with optical functionality. These frames are not just about enhancing vision but also about elevating one's overall appearance.

This meeting of eras manifested in the form of rich colors like bordeaux and petrol, as well as in materials like lacquer and steel (sometimes oxidized, other times satin-finished or chrome-plated). “Oftentimes when people buy large SUVs they have to take a lot of people and cargo, and it’s important that we create that flexibility for comfort and space,” Jenkins said. That idea, he said, comes from experience driving his two teen sons and often their friends.

As a certified Optician, Melody has worked in the optical industry for over 20 years. Her passion for helping patients select the perfect pair of glasses comes with an enthusiasm for excellence at every turn. As a mother of 6, Melody specializes in helping our soccer moms find and design fashion eyewear that will make them stand out on the field. With a bright smile, an eye for fashion, and an ear for listening to the patients exact optical needs, Melody has a knack of blending fashion and function, with a flair for creating brilliant face jewelry. She looks forward to helping you design and create your very own personalized pizzazz.

To pioneer standalone headsets, we developed technologies like inside-out-tracking and self-tracked controllers. To allow for more natural interaction systems and social presence, we pioneered hand, eye, face and body tracking. And for mixed reality, we built a full stack of technologies for blending the digital and physical worlds, including high-resolution Passthrough, Scene Understanding and Spatial Anchors. This long-term investment that began on the mobile-first foundations of the Android Open Source Project has produced a full mixed reality operating system used by millions of people. This new hardware ecosystem will run on Meta Horizon OS, the mixed reality operating system that powers our Meta Quest headsets. Meta Horizon OS combines the core technologies that power today’s mixed reality experiences with a suite of features that put social presence at the center of the platform.

From humble beginnings in the Sahel region to selling globally, Nile Eyewear has built a brand in demand, even with Jennifer Lopez spotted wearing a pair of their sunglasses. This follows the Egyptian motto of living an easy life while staying fashionable.

Since then, SEE has racked up 86 "best eyewear" and "best optical shop" wins in readers' polls from coast to coast, and every win is as exciting as the first. Last week, editors from AD’s global editions gathered for Milan Design Week 2024—and even now, we’re feeling the electricity. Within our walls, we provide our families with more than just housing.

Family Support Services (FSS) provides emotional support, education and resources to the families and staff of the Ronald McDonald House. Individuals, couples, and entire families are served in the privacy of the FSS offices, around the House, in the kitchen, playroom, on Zoom, or wherever a person feels most comfortable. FSS not only offers support to individual families, but also plans and manages House therapeutic activities such as Fun Clubs, holiday activities, and special events that provide a caring, supportive, and fun environment for all. FSS provides support and training for the staff at the Ronald McDonald House. This helps staff handle their own stress and feelings, which enables them to provide even better customer service to families.

700 Families

The Dining Hall/Activity Center increased camps capacity to serve campers by 25% and also allowed year-round programs with two new multi-purpose areas for activities and meetings. The desire for a program that supported the unique needs of families with critically ill children quickly spread to other cities. The Southern California chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) began in 1977 with the planning of the region's first Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles blocks from Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Volunteer groups and community organizations show their love of families by hosting incredible holiday-focused events throughout the year, including parties, special meals, music and/or field trips. Reflecting the diverse communities we serve, most of our staff and FSS team is bilingual.

Research has shown that interactions with animals can positively impact a child’s health. Our House hosts specially trained and certified miniature horses, dogs and bunnies -- bringing smiles and joy to the families and children staying at our House. Fourteen years later, a new 27,780 square foot, 16-room and garage addition was dedicated on April 30, 1994. A unique feature of our House is the long-term housing wing that was designed to meet the special needs of bone-marrow transplant patients. Treatment for these patients requires an extensive hospital stay, anywhere from two to eight months, and the apartment-style wing provides an atmosphere that feels more like home. Because transplant patients are highly susceptible to infections, the units also have individual ventilation and air conditioning systems.

You can be part of an exceptional and established not-for-profit organization that provides comfort and care to children and families from across the country and around the globe. The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House not only provides a supportive home away from home for our families, but also a community of people who understand the stress of caring for a critically ill child. The Pasadena Ronald McDonald House not only provides a supportive “home away from home” for our families, but also a community of people who understand the stress of caring for a critically-ill child. Serving close to 1,500 campers each year with programs that build courage, foster hope and promote healing for children with cancer and their families. Seeing the number of families impacted by the Family Room program, the Orange County House opened a second Ronald McDonald Family Room at CHOC Children's in Orange extending its services and family-centered care services.

Each year, we rely on the expertise and talents of nearly 300 volunteers to deliver high quality, outcome driven programs. Our volunteer counselors come from all over the world and range in age from 19 to 70 years-old. Camp allows children and their families the opportunity to have fun, peace, adventure and a chance to be themselves. RMHCSC Celebrates 30 years of helping local community organizations throughout Southern California that benefit children through our Community Grants program. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House expanded its services, opening a new building adjacent to the original facility.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE LOS ANGELES

ronald mcdonald house

In 1977 a group of committed parents, medical staff and McDonald's owner/operators met to begin planning for the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House, the third house to be chartered nationally. Construction for the House began in 1978 on Fountain Avenue across the street from Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The first Ronald McDonald House to be built from the ground up (previous Houses had been renovated homes), the 11,970 square foot, 16-room facility opened on September 14, 1980. Karla Zamora and Jesus Luna left their home and family in Sonora, Mexico in search of advanced medical treatment for his meningocele, a condition w... Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times opened a state of the art 12,000 square foot Dining Hall/Activity Center.

Family Support Services (FSS) provides compassionate emotional support, education, and resources to the families and staff of the Ronald McDonald House. We are available to you seven days a week, 24 hours a day, every day of the year even after you leave the house and return home. Expanding even further, the three-bedroom Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House opened to support families of children receiving treatment at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and other nearby medical facilities. It also provides day-use services to local residents whose children are receiving treatment in the hospital's pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH) provides housing and support services to families traveling to Los Angeles to receive medical care for their child. If you are interested in staying at our House, consult with your child’s medical team to review eligibility.

Staying at the House

Located steps from Miller Children’s Hospital, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House provides the families of critically ill children with a safe and supportive place to stay. Research shows that a family's presence in the hospital helps children heal. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child's medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans. These are only some of the reasons that make Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California an important organization.

We utilize medical translation phone services through our partnership with CyraCom. We understand the importance of a supportive “home away from home” for our families during this difficult time – and this is why we provide more than just a place to sleep. Our organization offers competitive compensation and benefits as well as an outstanding work environment at each of our numerous locations. If you are interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals serving thousands of children and their families, you have come to the right place. After years of careful planning and preparation, the community responded and in less than two years of fundraising through private gifts and grants, $6 million was raised to bring Ronald McDonald House to Long Beach. Our Helms building is located just one-half block from our original building at 1250 Lyman Place.

This location includes an additional 40 rooms as well as the administrative offices for our Los Angeles, Chapter and Camp Ronald McDonald staff. Visitors and volunteers may park in our Helms Visitors Lot, located directly in front of the building. Residents with a keycard may park in the underground garage, with its entrance off of Lyman Place and just south of the building’s front door. Noah and Melissa neeed a place to stay when their daughter Sadie was rushed to the hospital after a seizure.

Thanks to LightZ of Hope, we light up a colorful disco ball at the Front Desk to announce good news. Today, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House can accommodate 75 families each night and continues to serve as a “home away from home” for hundreds each year. Since its chartering, the House has served more than 30,000 families from all states in the U.S. and more than 45 countries across the world. When Brooke’s daughter Danica was injured, she refused to leave the child’s bedside. RMHC serves millions of children and their families each year, but more need our help.

During holidays (e.g., Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Bastille Day), you’ll find a number of special cruises and menus being offered. The cost of a meal cruise generally ranges from about 50 € to 200 € per person. Lunch and brunch cruises are usually less expensive than dinner cruises and specialty themed cruises.

Vedettes du Pont Neuf Seine Cruise

Bateaux de Paris is the newest company to offer regular Seine River cruises. Although the company primarily does private events, one of its smaller boats is used for seasonal tourist sightseeing cruises. The boat is one of the smallest boats offering regular cruises and easy to spot with its bright orange color. The sun sets and night falls over Paris, the flagship Jean-Sébastien Mouche casts off its moorings and the harbour slowly drifts away. The mood is romantic, the magic is in force...You are the actors in a wonderful play, played only for you.

Viking River Cruises

As you gently float along, iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre Museum, and ornate bridges glow around you. Open-air or covered seating is available as you listen to prerecorded or live audio commentary to enhance the views. If you want to make the cruise more interesting, you can choose the Dinner Cruise which is more expensive cruise and include dinner, drinks, or even sometimes a live music show. These cruises will cost you more than the Sightseeing Cruises, but they take longer (around 2 hours) and do offer some more value to your trip. Most boats have open-air upper decks and some have interior lounge areas.

Seine River Lunch Cruises

The main Seine River sightseeing cruises are 2 hours long and combine a canal cruise with a Seine River cruise. Paris en Scène is perhaps the lesser-known boat company proposing Seine River dinner cruises in Paris. However, their proposal is very attractive, flexible, and definitely one of the best Paris River cruises with dinner. The number one reason why I like river cruises so much is because you get to see many small towns and sights in a leisurely fashion. As well as dinner, Bateaux Mouches® also provide lunch cruises or simple boat tours to explore Paris from the Seine.

The prices, if you don’t want the optional commentary, are some of the lowest. Live narration is provided by real guides; however, both sound quality and guide quality can vary. You also have the option to download the commentary in advance and listen to it during your trip with your own smartphone and headphones.

Prepare to be dazzled when your guide takes you inside the palatial estate on a visit to Versailles. First, it was within a 5-minute walking distance of where we were staying in Paris. Second, it provided the best prices and we booked tickets in advance online for only 16 euros total for the two of us. These tickets also gave us a lot of flexibility regarding when we used them as they were good for one year following purchase. Note that the cruises cannot operate in severe weather so during storms they are often canceled.

Paris de Vedettes offers pretty much the same standard 1-hour cruise of the Seine as most of the other companies; however their boats are smaller than many of the other companies. Most boats now include an audio guide that will play in several languages including Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. But some boats still have live narration on-board by guides in French and English on some cruises. Many people also appreciate the option to purchase snacks or drinks during the cruise.

Paris & D-Day 80th Anniversary

Some hotel concierge desks also sell cruise tickets or can refer you to riverboats they work with regularly. Prices are generally the same as direct through the cruise company. This just serves as an convenience if you’d prefer to book all Paris activities through your hotel. To summarize – basic sightseeing night cruises can be found for budget prices around €15, while lavish dinner and entertainment cruises run over €100 per passenger. Booking ahead online is recommended for best availability and rates. Most standard sightseeing cruises do not stop, allowing you to stay aboard.

Important Information About Booking

Towards the end we also moved inside and listed to the commentary. The Bateaux Parisiens boats are larger than those by the Vedettes du Pont Neuf and it was more crowded than my first experience but there was plenty of space to sit and move around. Most visitors to Paris want to join one of the regularly scheduled group Seine river boat cruises from one of the companies above.

With fewer passengers and open decks, you have space to Admire views and snap great photos as you gently float by each attraction. The river offers beautiful new perspectives of Paris’ architecture and scenery. As the second-longest river in France, the Seine River extends over 777 kilometers and is one of the most iconic sights of Paris as well as a worldwide tourist attraction.

The Vedettes du Pont Neuf boats have a ramp for access and can accommodate step-free access and passengers with wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The access ramp is located a little further beyond the stairs and staff can help assist in finding the best place to board and exit. Boats with top decks allow for better viewing and pictures, but during cold weather everyone will be forced into the covered spaces. Live narration can be difficult to hear, especially near the engine and on top deck if crowded. Tickets can be booked in advance online here, or purchased at the Port de Suffren port office. Boats for the 1 hour cruise leave from Port de Suffren (near Eiffel Tower) in the 7th arrondissement.

The sightseeing cruises last approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. An important thing to consider for a Paris night cruise is the sunset time, as the sunset in Paris in summer is quite late. If you want to take a Seine sunset cruise – night cruise, check out the Paris sunset times and book accordingly. First of all, the boats are imagined like a theatre where the Seine River is the main stage.

The boats stop at each stop every 20 to 25 minutes depending on the season. Current prices (as of June 2023) are 18 euros for adults, 9 euros for children age 4-13, and children under age 4 are free. Pre-recorded narration is provided in several languages, including English, over the boat speaker system. This Paris River cruise navigates the waters of the Seine River and Canal Saint-Martin. Admire classics of Paris, like the Orsay Museum, the Louvre, and Notre Dame, before heading to the tunnels and locks of Paris’ most picturesque Canal.
